This summer as projects on the farmhouse are almost complete, and I have hit a plateau with my motivation to completely finish the to-do list, we are trying to take advantage of all of the wonderful activities that come with living in a small town community! One of the exciting things on the horizon this summer is a peach festival! And this particular peach festival offers the teenage boy an opportunity to enter a baking contest, where you guessed it the recipe must contain peaches!
So recently we decided to explore a few peach related recipes to begin the tedious process of selecting what we hope will be the blue ribbon winner! This will be the teenage boy’s first attempt at competing in a baking competition, but not his first attempt at cooking something delicious. He has entered the peach festival photography contest for several years and had his share of blue ribbons! To say we are both excited about the food competition is an understatement. We both love food!
So we are going to a series of posts on peach related recipes! And we hope that you will help us pick which one to submit for his peach festival entry! First, rattle out of the box we tried a family recipe we had for Southern Buttermilk Peach Pie. My oh my it did not disappoint! Winner winner peach dessert! The flavors of this Southern Buttermilk Peach Pie were absolutely amazing! The buttermilk gave it a smooth, creamy consistency and the peaches were still firm (not at all mushy) and yet covered in a delicious creamy cinnamon filling! We added a scoop of vanilla bean Blue Bell ice cream and well we thought for a bit that we might have died and gone to heaven! My mouth is still watering just thinking about it.
