Garage Door Accessories

When we first bought the farmhouse, one of the projects that we wanted (or should I say needed) to tackle was painting the exterior of the house. Along with that included painting the detached garage and replacing the door that was badly damaged. To put it nicely, the farmhouse was an ugly yellow and the garage was a sherbet green. Now don’t get me wrong, I love me some sherbet but not as a color for my house and garage.

Before

Now that we have been in the farmhouse for almost two years – say what? – yes, we are getting closer to the two year anniversary, and the end of what was a massive todo list. Although it makes me a little bit sad, it also makes me so very proud of all the that we have accomplished in such a short time. It is pretty remarkable actually.

So recently while scrolling through Instagram, I came across an account that was showing off their recent garage door accessories! Hello … accessories to dress up your garage door! Say what? Oh how I got excited! I had wanted to do this with my last house and had totally forgot about it! I thought adding some garage door accessories might just be the added boost for my current detached garage door! So I started doing a little research and found out that there are all sorts of garage door accessories out there! Who knew? Certainly not me! So after some digging, and a lot of reading of reviews, I think I found the perfect garage door accessories for my shiny new garage door!

I was so excited to get these garage door accessories and I will be honest, I was rather skeptical when the very tiny thin box arrived. So naturally, I immediately lowered my expectations and reminded myself that I could always return them. But after opening them I was pleasantly surprised that they were made of a very lightweight, hard plastic-like material that looked to be very durable. The magnets are very strong, I don’t think they are rare earth magnets but they are strong. And I soon realized that these might not be so bad after all.

So in full disclousre I didn’t realize that all garage doors are different. Okay, that sounds like I am kinda dumb. But the pictures I had seen during my research were very different than what my garage door actually is. So, placing the garage door accessories exactly where I wanted them was a tad bit tricky for me. I couldn’t put them where I wanted them because that was where the sections of the garage door folded when rolling it up or down. My advice, you will need to flexible with your placement if you choose to order some. I am getting used to them and I have moved them around quite a bit trying to find the perfect happy medium. But all in all, they only took me like 60 seconds to install. So on a scale of 1 to 10 these are an easy, peasy thing to install.

After

I don’t know about you, but I think they made a big difference to my garage door and they give me a smile every time I pull into my driveway. In fact, I usually wait now to hit the opener so I can enjoy them a little bit each time I come home! So if you are looking for some instant curb appeal, or just like the idea of accessorizing your garage door without permanently installing something – these bad boys are pretty great!
